Tell us about yourself I have been a resident of Waukesha since 1975, married to De Honn and have 2 children and 4 grandchildren. Yes, we gave them roots and wings, and they got their wings and are gone living in distant places. We are so grateful for wonderful communication, email, digital pictures and enjoy the fun of travelling to be with each other. What do you do as the Minister of Congregational Care? I am presently overseeing the parish nurse inititatives from the past 12 years, assisting the teams to be visionary in their calling regarding program development. In addition the job calls me to work with the senior visitation pastor regarding the transitions our seniors are encountering, both individually and collectively. A new aspect to the role challenge is to use tools and resources, encouragement and conversation to assist persons in the congregation to be able to name their gifts and skills and then help them to find their God call in ministry in the church and the community at large.
What would I be doing right now if God had not called me to be in ministry? I can't imagine anything but. I can name my childhood spiritual formation of church and family, the church schools attended, the persons that came into my life related to a God call and find it pretty exciting of how God knows each one of us, what approach to use that we will pay attention to the nudges and find great direction, meaning, fulfillment and purpose in life and living.
What is the best part of your job? I am most grateful personally, spiritually and professionally for everything this church, individuals and corporately have given me to experience the past, present and future fulfillment in the God call of ministry. The church staff is a major piece in my daily life, the work and fun of teaming together, the spiritual formation and sharing, the laughter and the opportunities and challenges in practice. Do you have any collections? Yes---to much stuff and am at the time in my life that it is fun to scale down, give away and throw away. What is my favorite food?
Most everything. :) What do I like to do for exercise and balance in life? Go for walks year around, read and play piano, watch British television shows. In the summer ride bike and canoe, in the winter cross country ski.
What do you like to read? A novel to give me balance and some professional leadership book for personal growth and then there's the Word Find to help me to "wind down" at the end of the day, to start a vacation or between airline transfers. We really enjoy travelling together, driving long distances or flying to new places and meeting our children and families for fun and adventure.
