We are the only OCD support group presently meeting in SE Wisconsin. The group has a facilitator who has been trained in OCD and continues to attend seminars for continued education.
Every meeting has individual sharing of what is going on in their personal lives. Group members offer suggestions of how they solved similar problems. Participants benefit from spending time with others who have OCD.
OCD behavior characteristics are discussed to help an individual determine whether their obsessions and compulsions are severe enough to interfere with normal living. If so, the group suggests professional help options the individual could use to reduce their symptoms and improve daily living.
Group members individually determine and commit to doing specific task(s) to reduce their OCD symptoms over the two week period to the next meeting time. They, then, report on progress made.
Periodically, professionals are brought in to make presentations on different kinds of treatment. There then is a question and answer period to discuss the details.
Obsessive Compulsive Support Group meets at First UMC on the second Wednesday and fourth Thursday of every month from 7:00-8:30 p.m.
