Service and Advocacy

Changing the world

We believe that the life of faith requires a balance between an inward focus that nourishes our soul and an outward focus that moves us into service for and with others. As a congregation, we strive to exemplify this balance in everyone from our very youngest child to our very oldest member.

First United Methodist Church has a deep passion for the needs of the world evidenced by both our service in the community and our mission giving throughout the world.

In 2009, First United Methodist Church gave over $128,000 to local, national and international mission-oriented projects. In addition, thousands of schools supplies, food and clothing items and Christmas presents were given to local organizations.

To match our giving with service, the congregation volunteers with over 25 local organizations. A few of these include the Women’s Center, the Hope Center, the Waukesha Food Pantry, and the Hunger Taskforce. In addition, a variety of small groups gather to share talents such as quilting and knitting in ways that benefit local members of the community.

We invite you to explore and find the place where your gifts and passions can be used in service to the world.
