Music

Vocal Choirs, Handbell Choirs and Instrumental Ensembles

Music is a vital element of our two Sunday morning worship services.

Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir, under the direction of Greg Carpenter, enhances the service with particular attention to the worship theme for the day.

Tower Bells

Tower Bells, also under the direction of Greg Carpenter, plays a five-octave set of Malmark bells, adding the beauty of sound and sight to worship.

10:30am Music Ensemble
The ensemble that provides music for the 10:30am service uses familiar hymns and songs with contemporary accompaniments. Because there are no weekday rehearsals, this group operates on the principle that one must be able to read music sufficiently to receive the song list and arrive on Sunday morning ready to perform. Current needs are for a second keyboard player to fill in backgrounds and for substitutable bass guitar player

The Organist
We are privileged to have John Sheaffer at our Schantz Pipe Organ.  John brings his own special talents to the service music and the hymns.

Golden Bells
Golden Bells is a handbell choir primarily for seniors. It offers a fun musical experience and Christian fellowship. Regular rehearsals are Wednesdays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. This bell choir does not participate in formal worship services but offers two Christmas programs and two programs in the spring at area retirement homes.

Trombone Choir
The FUMC Trombone Choir performs for special occasions and some church services, both in church and in the community.  Our membership centers around a nucleus of trombone playing FUMC members but welcomes anyone, from high school students through senior citizens, from the community as well.  The group tries to rehearse three times before a performance, scheduling them when most members can attend.  Members do not have to attend every performance-- only what will fit into their personal schedules.  Literature includes both sacred and secular, easy to difficult.   Cynthia Eisenmann is the director of this choir

Gifts of Music
During the summer months, our choir and handbells take a well deserved break and we enlist the help of talented soloists and small groups to assist with worship.  We thank them for sharing their talents with our congregation .
