Youth Activities

Sunday School - Grades 7-12

Youth classes are held Sundays from 9:00-10:00 a.m. The seventh and eight grade class is taught using topical lessons about friends, choices, and other topics that are relevant to junior high students, as well as lessons directly about Bible stories. Teachers use creative examples and activities to help the lessons stick.  The high school class uses a discussion-based curriculum designed to incorporate our faith into how we look at current events in the world and our lives.

Confirmation Classes

Students in the eighth grade are part of our confirmation program. Over the course of a year, they participate in community service, retreats, Sunday School, youth group, and other faith-exploring activities. They spend time learning about who God is, the history and purpose of the church, and how their faith impacts their lives. At FUMC confirmation is a one year program, beginning and ending in the fall.

2008 - 2009 Scholarship Applications

The 2008/2009 Memorial Foundation  Scholarship application can be downloaded from here.

Winter Events:
Please note: In keeping with our church’s Safe Sanctuaries policy, a completed consent form is required for all activities requiring transportation off the church grounds.  (Also, for those activities at FUMC, the same form is required, but it needs to be filled out only once per year.)  You may download a copy of the form here.

Kentucky Mission Trip

July 20-26, 2008

Frakes, Kentucky.

We’ll help rebuild homes so that people can continue to live in them.  The Henderson Settlement where we are staying is a United Methodist mission agency located in the Appalachian Mountains in southern Kentucky.  It will be a growing experience for all of us, to learn about a different area of the country and to learn about ourselves as we’re helping others.  Financial aid is available if cost is an issue for you; we’d like you to come!  For more information or to sign up, download the brochure here.  Please sign up by March 2nd.

Deep Thinkers Group
How did we all come into being, and why?  Is human perfection possible?  Are humans basically good, or not?  We are getting together for lunch at 11:30 the 4th Sunday of each month to discuss philosophy and some of the deep mysteries of life.  No experience or special knowledge is necessary; just come with a willingness to consider each other’s ideas and to tackle some of life’s “big questions”.

BRICK (Being Real in Church Klub):
BRICK and KICK will meet the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, 5:30-7:30 in the dining room.  Each night includes a meal, some games, and some form of learning or service.  KICK is for grades 3-6, and BRICK is for grades 7-8.  During Lent, BRICK and KICK will be replaced by Destination Easter, which will run at the regular time but occur every Wednesday until Easter.

Youth-led Worship and Dells Water park Trip
