Minister of Congregational Care
First United Methodist Church of Waukesha is seeking to hire a Minister of Congregational Care as an addition to our dedicated clergy team. We are looking for a candidate with gifts of compassion, able to offer spiritual and emotional care to the congregation and community at large. This is a part-time, 20-hour per week position to include weekly staff meetings and Sundays as needed. Salary is commensurate with experience.
Position Responsibilities
The duties listed below are not all inclusive. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
1. Develop, implement, and supervise ministries that offer spiritual and emotional care
2. Equip lay ministry teams with training to make contact and build relationships with all in need of spiritual care—the hospitalized, grieving, and those in life transitions
3. Coordinate lay member visits to seniors and those requesting communion in homes, hospitals, or nursing homes
4. Provide resources for spiritual, emotional, and physical care across the span of life,
including coordination with outside sources as needed
5. Collaborate with clergy to ensure pastoral care requests are met
6. Act as staff liaison to Circle of Care Team and XYZ (Xtra Years of Zest) activities and programming
Goals: Increase the percentage of the congregation involved in Congregational Care and develop a good working relationship with outside sources that support the goals of the teams. Develop ministry teams that can function independently, with minimal supervision.

Required Qualifications
1. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
2. Ability to lead, equip, and encourage teams
3. Spiritual gifts of encouragement, empathy, confidentiality, and discernment
4. Strong Christian background with ability to discuss spirituality and life transitions
5. Ability to drive and travel within the Metro Milwaukee/Waukesha area
6. Experience in instructional leadership and leading teams, training in social/mental health areas, and a medical/social work background preferred but not required
